Keeping Our School Safe and Secure
The safety of our students and staff at St. Susanna Parish School is of great importance. We have established procedures and policies that support a safe and positive school. Along with standard security measures, we believe a continuous evaluation of campus security is fundamental.
Safety and Security Highlights
Campus Safety
We utilize both interior and exterior security cameras, which are stationed around our campus. We have recently also installed an impact-resistant security film on all exterior doors and accessible windows. On our school campus, we have four accessible AEDs and each teacher is assigned a ‘GO Bag’ equipped with first aid supplies, as well as emergency medical plans for students. All staff members are trained regularly in bloodborne pathogens safety, seizure safety and EpiPen administration. We provide on site CPR/AED and first aid training to all staff.
School Resource Officer
Officer Andrew Simmons works with our community and with the support of the Mason Police Department to set policies and safety standards throughout our campus. He leads our staff in maintaining a safe and secure environment. Officer Simmons’ training, knowledge and experience is utilized at both the parish and school.
Palarum Safety Alert Badges
Through our partnership with Palarum, our staff is equipped with safety alert badges. All staff members wears a safety alert badge which can immediately notify other staff members of safety concerns on campus. Staff may also use these to ask for assistance in less serious circumstances. These badges are equipped with technology that provides real-time location information to all who receive the alert.
Safe Environment with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati
Every person in a position which requires contact or interaction with youth or vulnerable adults must complete the SafeParish™ edition of Protecting Children from Sexual Abuse training session before they are permitted to work or volunteer within any of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati parishes, schools or institutions. No one under the age of 18 is permitted to complete the training. In addition to completing the training, employees and volunteers must stay current in completing their interactive video-based SafeParish™ quarterly bulletins on Child Protection in order to remain in compliance with the requirements of the Decree on Child Protection. Non-compliance will result in SafeParish™ account non-approval and non-compliant employees and volunteers will no longer be permitted to work with youth or vulnerable adults until compliance is reestablished.
